Co What: Dobrý den

As you can see the blog is now up and running.

To get this started with some fun, I want to invite you to join me in the process of learning Czech. Through the "Co What" titled blog posts I will present words and phrases I am currently learning in Czech as I go about my daily life, so hopefully they will prove useful to you if you ever visit this beautiful country or meet a native Czech speaker.

Today's Czech phrase is: dobrý den. Dobrý = good, den = day.

Literally this phrase means "good day" however there are some nuances that I have learned in usage of this phrase.

This is a common greeting used to acknowledge people in passing and for announcing yourself when you enter an establishment like a store or restaurant.

This phrase can be shortened to just "dobrý" in many instances.
